Adolescent Tobacco

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Adolescent Tobacco Use Prevention Act (ATUPA) was enacted to limit the accessibility of tobacco products, including both conventional and herbal cigarettes, to minors and young adults under the age of 21, acknowledging that early exposure to tobacco can lead to long-term health problems, including addiction, lung diseases and other tobacco-related illnesses.

Environmental Health investigates complaints and conducts compliance checks of tobacco retailers to reduce the use and accessibility of tobacco to minors and young adults.
