To ensure that public water supplies are operating in compliance with Part 5, Subpart 5-1 of the New York State Sanitary Code, to minimize potential public health concerns.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
- Conduct inspections of public water supplies
- Surveillance sampling
- Private compliance monitoring sampling as needed
- Respond to complaints and conduct investigations
- Review and approve proposed plans and specifications
- Provide training, guidance and education
- Review and approve water system operators as per Subpart 5-4
- Issue public health notices and advisories
