Three specialized response teams
The Wyoming County Emergency Response Team (ERT) includes three specialized countywide teams. Each team is made up of first responders from across the county who train and respond to a wide range of emergencies. The ERT responds to an average of five calls per year.
Hazardous materials team
Responsible for responding to chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear events, this team is trained to the Level A Technician standard. It operates as part of the multi-county Hazardous Materials Consortium, serving Genesee, Orleans, Livingston, and Monroe counties.
High angle rope rescue team
Responsible for responding to emergencies requiring patient extrication from creeks, hills, or buildings, this team trains and works closely with the New York State Parks Police at Letchworth State Park.
Ice/water rescue team
Comprised of first responders from across the county, this team responds to cold water incidents. They maintain a range of equipment, including rope and pulley systems, cold water suits, rescue sleds, and a rescue boat.
