what is CRr
Community risk reduction helps communities identify their risks and create plans to reduce high-priority ones. Investing in prevention is both a public safety and economic benefit, as preventing emergencies costs far less than responding to and recovering from them. Measures like smoke alarms, fire safety education, and building code enforcement are low-cost actions that can prevent devastating fires.
crr program goals
- To help stakeholders assess hazards, vulnerabilities, risks, coping capacity, and develop risk reduction options.
- To assist in creating strategies to lessen the impact of identified hazards.
