Mailing Items to an Incarcerated Individual

Certain necessities may be mailed to incarcerated individuals housed at the Wyoming County Jail. Please note that all incoming mail and packages are subject to search by correctional staff.

The following items are the only ones an incarcerated individual may receive via United States Mail, Federal Express, or UPS:

  • 2 Pairs of White Socks*
  • 2 White Tee-Shirts*
  • 2 Pairs of White Underwear*
  • Cash, Bank Certified Checks, Money Orders
  • Clothes for Court, and Legal Paperwork
  • Pictures (No Polaroids)
  • Recreational Clothes**
  • Religious Medallions

All packages sent to this facility are subject to search and seizure in accordance with Section 7025.4 of the New York State Commission of Correction Minimum Standards.

*Any clothing item(s) mailed to the facility must be white.

**Recreational clothing is permitted in any solid color. All clothing must be free of hoods, zippers, pockets, drawstrings, writing, logos, and decals. Sweatshirts may be long or short-sleeved but must not have hoods or pockets.

Please note that the Wyoming County Jail is not responsible for any recreational clothing items.

Purchases & Unauthorized Items

Stationery and personal hygiene items must be purchased through the commissary. Any unauthorized items mailed to the facility will either need to be mailed out at the incarcerated individual’s expense or taken out during a scheduled visit.
