About us
The Wyoming County Planning Board plays an important role in helping guide responsible growth, land use, and development throughout the county. One of our primary responsibilities is reviewing land use proposals submitted by towns and villages under Section 239-1, m and n of the New York State General Municipal Law (GLM).
Under this law, local municipalities are required to refer certain actions to the County Planning Board when they may have inter-municipal or countywide impacts. These action may include:
- Zoning changes
- Site plan reviews
- Special use permits
- Subdivision proposals
- Comprehensive plan amendments or adoptions
The Planning Board is responsible for reviewing these referrals and providing recommendations to help ensure planning decisions align with broader county goals, protect shared resources, and support coordinated growth across municipal boundaries.
The Wyoming County Planning Board meets regularly to review these referrals and other planning matters. Our meetings are open to the public, and we welcome participation from residents, developers, and municipal officials.
Meeting dates & referral deadlines
Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. in the Second Floor Conference Room of the Ag & Business Center. Referrals not received by the stated deadline will be added to the following month's agenda.
