Volunteer Opportunities

aOmbudsmEn

Ombudsmen are dedicated advocates who work to protect the rights, well-being, and safety of residents in nursing homes and adult care facilities. They offer support in a variety of ways, including:

  • Informing you about your rights and relevant regulations
  • Assisting in communication with facility staff
  • Attending care plan meetings with you
  • Connecting you with appropriate staff members or external agencies
  • Helping to resolve concerns or issues you may face

To become an Ombudsman, contact Lifespan Resources at 585-244-8400 or 866-454-5110 or visit their website for more information.

Senior Courier

  • Volunteers are needed to prepare the Senior Courier for mailing on the third Monday of odd months (January, March, May, July, September and November).
    • Volunteering is easy, you just need to show up!
    • We begin folding at 9:00 am at the Office for the Aging located at 8 Perry Avenue, Warsaw.
    • Any and all help is greatly appreciated, and it is a good place to meet with old friends or make new ones.

Transportation

  • The Transportation Coordinator at the Office for the Aging has a list of independent drivers who have indicated a willingness to do out-of-county transportation to medical appointments for reimbursement of mileage.
  • Volunteer drivers are always needed and appreciated.
  • To become a volunteer driver, contact the Transportation Coordinator at the Office for the Aging.
