Our mission
The mission of the Wyoming County Highway Department is to ensure a safe, efficient and well-maintained transportation network for the public by focusing on roads, bridges and related infrastructure. To achieve this, an emphasis is placed on maintaining and improving local infrastructure, supporting county growth, and economic well-being.
WHAT WE DO
The Wyoming County Highway Department maintains and improves the County’s transportation infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient travel. Core responsibilities include:
- Roadway Maintenance
- Maintenance and repair of approximately 245 miles of county roadways, including resurfacing and reconstruction.
- Bridges & Culverts
- Inspection, maintenance, repair, and replacement of county-owned bridges and culverts, including structures with spans of five feet or greater on town roads.
- Drainage Management
- Maintenance of roadside ditches and drainage systems to prevent erosion and flooding.
- Traffic Safety
- Installation and maintenance of traffic signs and control devices in compliance with state and federal standards.
- Fleet Operations
- Maintenance and repair of county-owned vehicles and highway equipment.
- Interagency Coordination
- Coordination with state and federal agencies for regulatory compliance, grants, and participation in transportation programs.
